I hope you are all doing well. For our Current Issues course, we were responsible for creating a corpus-based teaching material which its focus had to be grammar or vocabulary. In this task, we had to work with peers, my peer was Nazar. We select to focus on grammar and we choose the words "see" and "watch".
In this task we notice the importance of corpus as there are lots of benefits for student learning. Students will be able to find out which answer is correct as a result of their own research rather than reading and learning something. This aids them to learn better and with an interest. As our audiance is EFL learners in a high school in Turkey, we can easily request from them to use corpus.
After deciding to work with the verbs see and watch we entered the Canva and chose a template for ourselves. After deciding on the steps, we started to prepare them according to the students' levels by finding activities that included our words. In addition, we gave the students the link to the skech engine site we wanted to include and directed them to that site. As a result of the sentences they read on that site, students will easily understand the difference between the two words by completing the next steps.
Some of the problems that students may encounter while solving this material are situations where these two verbs are used with the same words. While the student is reading the sample sentences on the corpus website, he/she may be confused by the sentences he/she may come across. The teacher's duty here is to enlighten it.
